A new video to promote Korea features a robot with artificial intelligence (AI) and was released on Nov. 14, ahead of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
The video was unveiled by the Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS), part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The video takes place in the year 2045 and tells the story of the sole robot survivor of a 10-year human-robot war. In the video, this single robot talks about Korea’s economic development, and then the Seoul 1988 Olympics, the 2002 FIFA Korea-Japan World Cup and the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
The robot survivor contemplates humanity’s desire for peace and comes to the conclusion that this was the key to the human victory. The robot also says that this desire for peace was reflected in Korea’s recent candlelight movement and in the Olympic torch relay, and that this will get people around the globe to participate in the upcoming Winter Games.
The 4-minute-24-second video can be seen at the official YouTube channel for Korea.net (https://www.youtube.com/user/GatewayToKorea), at its Facebook profile, Korea Clickers (https://www.facebook.com/KoreaClickers, or at the government’s official K-store (http://kstore.korea.net/video).
Starting in December this year, this video, currently with English audio and English subtitles, will have subtitles in 10 languages, including simplified Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and Portuguese.
