BLACKPINK is the first K-pop girl group to top both the Official U.K. Albums Chart Top 100 and Billboard 200 albums chart.

The group is also the first and only Asian female act to top the two globally influential charts. BLACKPINK is also just the second K-pop act after BTS to pull off this feat.

Billboard’s preview article on its album chart on Sept. 25 said BLACKPINK’s second regular album “Born Pink” hit No. 1 for the week of Oct. 1.

The group ended the 11-week reign of Bad Bunny, who was pushed down to second place.

“Born Pink” has sold more than 102,000 copies, making it the biggest selling album by a female group since 2008.

K-pop boy bands BTS, SuperM and Stray Kids have claimed No. 1 on the Billboard chart. BLACKPINK is the fourth domestic act to achieve the honor.

The Billboard 200 is based on the volume of traditional album sales, digital music downloads and streams converted into album sales.

The British chart released on Sept. 23 had BLACKPINK as the first Korean female act to top the chart with “Born Pink.”

Started in 1969, the chart has a far shorter history than Billboard, which started in 1936, but is considered a major reflector of trends and popularity in European pop music.

“Born Pink” also topped the iTunes charts of 60 countries including the U.S. and the U.K. as well as the Apple Music Album charts of 64 nations.
