The melodies of classical music this fall will fill Yeongbingwan, the official reception venue at the former presidential compound of Cheong Wa Dae that used to host dinners for foreign leaders and distinguished guests.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Oct. 25 said it will jointly host four editions of the concert “K-classic to Tint Fall at Cheong Wa Dae” (unofficial translation) from Nov. 1-11 on the second floor of Yeongbingwan with the Seoul Arts Center and Korean National Symphony Orchestra.

Yeongbingwan hosted banquets and concerts for foreign heads of state and prime ministers during diplomatic events. The upcoming concerts will turn the facility into a new public space for culture and the arts.

On Nov. 1 at 3 p.m., pianist Kim Sunwook will hold a recital featuring Schubert’s Four Impromptus and Liszt’s Piano Sonata in B minor S178.

On Nov. 4 at 3 p.m., pianist Sunwoo Yekwon and the orchestra will each hold a concert, with Sunwoo to perform Tchaikovsky’s “October: Autumn Song” from “The Seasons” and Rachmaninoff’s Variations on a Theme of Corelli, Op. 42.

A concert on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. will have performances by violinist Yang In Mo and the orchestra, with Yang to play Mozart’s Violin Sonata in G major, K301 and Sibelius’ 5 Pieces for Violin and Piano, Op. 81.

On Nov. 11 at 7 p.m., pianist Son Yeol Eum will hold a recital and play pieces like Kapustin Variations, Op. 41 and Hirtz’s “Wizard of Oz” Fantasy.

General audiences need to make online reservations from the morning of Oct. 26 to the next day. More information is available through the ticket section of the online shopping mall Interpark (https://tickets.interpark.com/goods/22014765). Fifty people per concert for a combined 200 will be selected, with a limit of one application per concert.

From next year, concerts are scheduled not only at Yeongbingwan but also the outdoor area of Cheong Wa Dae including the gardens of Daejeongwon and Nokjiwon.
