The Goethe-Institut Korea, which has led cultural exchanges between Korea and Germany, will be holding an open house at 11 a.m. on May 26 to commemorate its 50th anniversary of opening in Huam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Ever since it was first established in Korea in 1968, the cultural center has offered various fields of arts and traditions, such as music, literature, performances and exhibitions.

A range of German food, including beer and sausages, will be on offer for a reasonable price in the front open area. Inside, there will be various programs to “experience” Germany. The famous book by Franza Kafka “The Metamorphosis” (1915), which was written in German, will be on display in the VR room, and German films, such as “The Lives of Others” (2006) and “Goodbye, Lenin!” (2003) will be screened, too. A singing room with famous German songs will be on-site, too.

Anyone interested in studying German should also take notice of the lottery. The first prize winner is entitled to a free voucher for German courses. The Goethe-Institut Korea will also distribute canvas tote bags to all visitors to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Anyone interested in Germany or the Goethe-Institut Korea can attend the open house.
