The Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS) and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation will now cooperate on the promotion of Korean heritage and traditions all around the world.

KOCIS signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation at The Korea House in Jung-gu, Seoul, on July 25, covering the overseas promotion of Korean heritage and traditions. Details of the agreement include the co-production of high-quality Korean cultural content, overseas broadcasts, and strengthening online promotion.

The agreement establishes cooperative systems to produce content, and distribution, technologies and facilities for content creation, as well as active information exchanges and content sharing.

The two institutions have already worked together on joint productions of overseas promotional videos in 2015 and 2017. The promotional videos, which were created by the Korea Foundation for Cultural Properties, introduced the natural landscape of Korea, traditional arts and the cultural heritage of the country. KOCIS worked on translating the videos into different languages, and on promoting them at the websites of Korean embassies in other countries and through social media feeds.

A representative from KOCIS said, “We have the proper infrastructure to promote such things overseas, and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation has an excellent ability to produce cultural content. Together, it’s expected that we’ll see great synergy effects that will greatly contribute to promoting the image of Korea.”
