This year’s Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival opening on Aug. 2 will delight rock fans from all over the world.
The Incheon Metropolitan Government on July 31 said the 19th edition of the event will run from Aug. 2-4 at Songdo Moonlight Festival Park in the city’s Yeonsu-gu District.
Under the theme “Home of K-Rock,” the three-day gala features 58 domestic and foreign acts including Jack White, Turnstyle, Jannabi, Kim Gordon, Sepultura, Girl In Red, Se So Neon, Silica Gel and Day6.
As a former Penta Super Rookie, or an audition program hosted by Incheon since 2013 to discover and develop new artists, Jannabi will headline this year’s festival. Ten years after its debut, the band is expected to rock the crowd.
In March, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism named Incheon Pentaport the country’s leading global festival to receive government funding support for three years. The event’s organizing committee has prepared a customized strategy for things like streamlining overall accommodation capacity and launching the program Pentaport Showcase.
The new program showcases the Incheon Pentaport’s excellence by inviting representatives from leading music festivals and record labels.
Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeongbok said, “Despite the continuing heat wave exhausting our bodies and minds, I hope for a safe Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival that temporarily brings relief from the heat and leaves deep impressions and unforgettable memories for the public.”
