An exhibit that showcases both traditional and modern Korea was held as part of KCON France 2016 on June 2 in Paris.
KCON France 2016 is being held in honor of the 130th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Seoul and Paris. The festival, being held for the first time in Europe, welcomed K-pop fans to an exhibition that featured Korean cuisine, fashion, arts and crafts, as well as multimedia content.
President Park Geun-hye visited KCON France and browsed the food and media content booths. While in the Hansik Zone featuring Korean cuisine, the president said that she hopes that in the near future many more Korean restaurants would open in France so that Korean cuisine can be widely introduced to the French public. She also talked with the Korean and French chefs about newly developed Korean course menus, and exchanged ideas about ways to boost cultural exchange through food and cuisine.
Finally, in the K-Beauty Zone that featured cosmetics and makeup, President Park said that, “Despite the already high quality of Korean cosmetics, we have a long way to go in terms of marketing our products. I hope that in the future our brands will spread their influence and reach a wider consumer base.”
