Participants in the Korea-Japan Festival 2015 in Seoul last September hold their hands in the shape of hearts. Korea and Japan sought to expand tourism on Feb. 17 and 18 during the two-day Festival for Korea-Japan Tourism Partnership in Tokyo.

As the “2016-2018 Visit Korea Year” has now begun, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism hosted the 2016 Festival for Korea-Japan Tourism Partnership on Feb. 17 and 18 in Tokyo.

On Feb. 17, a launch ceremony for the “Visit Korea Year” promotional campaign was held at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo. As part of the campaign, Executive Creative Director Song Seung-hwan for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics spoke about the PyeongChang Games and the Olympics in general.

On the same day, about 300 people from both countries’ tourism industries attended a travel fair held at the same venue and discussed potential partnership opportunities. On Feb. 18, the comedy show “Nanta” and the boy band Supernova performed at Mel Park Hall, and about 3,000 fans enjoyed the shows.

“This festival will contribute to demonstrating Korea’s charms as a tourist destination and also help to build a closer bilateral partnership across the industry,” said the ministry.
