The four-day 10th World Korean Educators Conference kicked off at the COEX convention center and at Le Méridien Seoul Hotel on July 10 and will run until July 13.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been hosting the event annually alongside the King Sejong Institute Foundation (KSIF), which supervises the network of King Sejong Institutes (KSIs) around the world. King Sejong Institutes are state-run Korean language institutes set up to better promote the language and traditions of Korea all around the world. The annual event is designed for participants, all teachers and educators, to share their knowledge and experiences with one another, as well as to officially launch new KSIs and to reward outstanding ones.

Under the slogan “Dreams shaped in the Korean language color the world,” the KSIF invited heads of operating agencies from outstanding KSI locations around the world, like university chancellors and vice chancellors, for the first time this year, and presented appreciation plaques to them for their excellent operation of KSI locations.

Around 200 teachers from 101 schools in 44 countries, as well as King Sejong Institute and Korean language education experts, participated in this year’s events. This included various Korean language and cultural training programs, including a viewing of “Nanta,” a non-verbal comedy show that incorporates traditional samul noridrumming.
