“Korean firms should continue to improve their already-recognized technologies and construction skills. They should also continue to seek opportunities to further expand their business beyond simply taking outsourcing projects and move into higher value-added investment development projects,” said Acting President and Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn.

“The government will help Korean construction companies increase their activities abroad by carrying out strategies tailored to each project in which they will engage, say, providing proper information or taking advantage of appropriate global networks,” the acting president said.

Acting President and Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn says that, “The Korean government will increase its support for Korean construction firms, to help them expand their business by winning contracts for overseas projects,” during a meeting for representatives from construction companies that work on overseas projects, in Seoul on April 24.

His remarks came on April 24 during a meeting that brought together representatives from Korean construction companies that have signed outstanding deals all around the world, including for the Canakkale 1915 Bridge in Turkey, for the South Pars petrochemical project and the Esfahan Oil Refinery project, both in Iran, and, finally, for a deal to supply subway cars for the Cairo Metro.

The meeting allowed participants to find ways to expand their businesses across infrastructure projects around the world. They talked about current market trends and shared their experiences and challenges that they might have faced in doing business on the global stage.
