Korea and Kazakhstan are expanding their cooperation on archive management.
On Oct. 27, the National Archives of Korea and the Archives of the President of Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) and discussed ways to improve their archive systems.
The MOU outlines cooperation on the collection of records, publications and research, and joint seminars that help to increase the efficiency of their archive management systems.
Using the agreement with Kazakhstan as a spearhead, the National Archives of Korea plans to create more partnerships with other countries in Central Asia.
Lee Sang Jin, head of the National Archives of Korea, said, “The agreement we signed today will bring more focus to the collection of records covering Korea’s modern and contemporary history, including some important data on the migration of ethnically Korean Goryeoin into regions in the Soviet Union. We will be sharing our digital archival management systems so that our partners can learn how the Korean government manages our archives.”
