Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Park Bo Gyoon and Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung on Oct. 16 agreed to strengthen bilateral exchanges and cooperation in culture, sports and tourism.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Sejong said both ministers held a meeting at Event Plaza of Yeouido Hangang Park on the sidelines of the 2022 Culture Bridge Festa.
“If Korea and Vietnam deepen mutual understanding through their long histories and culture, they can create new opportunities for cooperation,” Minister Park said, pledging to “actively participate” in bilateral cultural exchange and cooperation events.
He also asked for Vietnam’s interest and support for Korea’s bid to host next year’s Asian Cup, a campaign that the Korean government is actively promoting.

Minister Nguyen said, “Thank you for providing a venue for introducing Vietnamese culture through the Culture Bridge Festa project,” adding, “We look forward to your continuous interest and support in the future.”
“We will cooperate for Korea’s bid to host the 2023 Asian Cup,” he added, saying he hopes bilateral exchanges and cooperation actively continue in a wide range of sectors such as culture and the arts.
Running from Oct. 14-16, the Culture Bridge Festa was part of the project “New Hallyu Culture Bridge” (unofficial translation) promoted by the Culture Ministry to introduce foreign culture to Korea. This year’s event recreated in Seoul a street in the central Vietnamese city of Hoi An and showcased Vietnamese culture through spectacular performances by a traditional Vietnamese arts troupe and interactive cultural events.
Before their talks, both ministers walked around the event venue that featured replicas of traditional Vietnamese streets and encouraged those attending.
