Prime Minister Han Duck-soo on July 2 hosted a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chinh at Government Complex-Seoul in the city’s Jongno-gu District. Both officials discussed expanding trade and investment and agreed to raise bilateral trade to USD 150 billion (KRW 208 trillion) within six years.
They also decided to further boost cooperation and support in sectors such as cutting-edge and emerging industries, science and technology, developmental cooperation, small and medium enterprises (SME), venture companies and startups, supply chains for core minerals, and exchanges in culture, tourism and people.
Both prime ministers agreed to closely cooperate for a successful hosting of the P4G (Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030) Summit next year in Vietnam and open a Vietnamese consulate general in Busan this year.
On regional and international issues such as North Korea’s nuclear program and tension in the South China Sea, they exchanged opinions and agreed to bolster bilateral strategic communication and cooperation and jointly contribute to regional peace, stability and prosperity.
At their talks, the two sides also concluded and exchanged nine inter-organizational memorandums of understanding in developmental cooperation, trade and investment, SMEs, innovation and startups, the environment, competition and consumer protection, education and human resource development.
