Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon and Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias discussed ways to increase cooperation between Seoul and Athens at the Government Complex Seoul on Nov. 30.
The two parties commented on the expanding cooperation between the two nations in fields such as marine transport, ship building and electronic government services, and agreed to strengthen mutually beneficial and future-oriented ties through exchanges between government ministries and organizations in many other fields, such as education, research, tourism and construction.
The prime minister thanked the Greek government for its cooperation on the lighting ceremony of the Olympic flame and the Olympic torch handover ceremony for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. He also said that, “I hope that Greek officials and citizens will visit Korea for the upcoming Winter Games.”
“The Greek government will support Korea to successfully host the PyeongChang Winter Olympics,” said the Greek minister.
Prime Minister Lee also expressed his gratitude for Greece’s concern and support for the security situation on the Korean Peninsula, and asked for continual cooperation and support for the Korean government’s North Korea policies. Minister Kotzias stated the Greek government’s solidarity and support.
The Greek minister also attended a meeting with Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha to talk about substantial collaboration and the state of affairs on the Korean Peninsula and across Southern Europe.
