Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon met with Finnish Parliamentary Speaker Maria Lohela and spoke about strengthening the relationship and expanding cooperation between Korea and Finland.
“I anticipate a great performance from Finnish athletes at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, as Finland is one of the traditional power in terms of winter sports,” said Prime Minister Lee. “I hope that many Finnish fans, as well as Finnish dignitaries, use the Winter Games as an opportunity to visit Korea.”
The Finnish parliamentary speaker said that she participated in discussions about boosting cooperation between Korean and Finnish corporations and enhancing collaboration on tourism and welfare. “I will henceforth continue to pay attention to promoting cooperation on a diverse range of areas,” said Lohela. “To strengthen the relationship between our two countries, interaction among administrations and corporations are important, but the base is the exchanges among the general public. Next year’s PyeongChang Winter Olympics will help vitalize tourism in Korea.”
“I felt the reality of the division of the two Koreas when I visited the Demilitarized Zone,” she said. “I strongly support the Korean government’s policies for peace on the Korean Peninsula.”
