Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon held a meeting with Myanmar’s Parliamentary Speaker Mahn Winn Khaing Thann and discussed ways to develop ties between the two countries, at the Government Complex Seoul on Nov. 29.

Prime Minister Lee emphasized that ASEAN’s support was behind Korea’s economic growth and democratization, saying that, “Korea also wants to share its experiences and technologies for the development of Myanmar.”

“The new government of Myanmar is putting efforts into democracy and economic development, to reform the country based on the country’s potential, such as geographical advantages and ample natural resources,” said the Myanmar speaker. He added that sharing Korea’s experience of development and technologies would be essential to reach that goal.

The two parties agreed to strengthen ties by establishing a Korea-Myanmar Economic Cooperation Industrial Complex and by sharing agricultural technologies.
