President-elect Yoon Suk Yeol on March 18 launched his presidential transition team and held a signboard hanging ceremony nine days after the election.
President-elect Yoon and team chairman Ahn Cheol-soo in the morning held a signboard hanging ceremony in front of the team’s building in the Tongui-dong neighborhood of Seoul’s Jongno-gu District.
The team will inspect the outgoing administration’s overall status until the morning of May 9, the day before President-elect Yoon assumes office, and produce a rough sketch of the next government’s policies.
President-elect Yoon on March 17 named the 24 members of his team. The number swells to around 200 if experts and working-level employees are included.
The team consists of seven branches: planning adjustment, diplomacy and national security, judicial administration of national affairs, economy 1 (economic policy, macroeconomics and finance), economy 2 (industry and jobs), science and technology education, and social welfare culture.
President-elect Yoon on March 18 held his team’s first general meeting after the signboard hanging ceremony and said, “There must not be even a single gap in national security and the people’s livelihood when setting the new government’s national agenda. All criteria must prioritize the national interest and people.”
His spokesperson Kim Eun-hye told a briefing at People Power Party’s headquarters, “The president-elect will frequently chair the transition team’s meetings to jointly inspect national agenda and the team’s operating status.”
From next week, the team will start preparing the selection of agenda for the first 100 days of the next administration.
