President Park honored the victims who gave their lives for freedom and peace, including Korean War veterans, and gave words of encouragement to their bereaved families, after laying a wreath in front of the eternal flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier beneath the Arc de Triomphe.
President Park stressed that this year is very significant, as Seoul and Paris commemorate the 130th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties. “Let our two countries try to achieve peace on the Korean Peninsula and around the world, based on our amity and cooperation and based on the long history and traditions of our two countries. France contributed to the protection of the Korean Peninsula and to world peace by dispatching troops to the Korean War under difficult situations and circumstances due to World War II,” she said.
