President Moon Jae-in held a meeting with World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, on a visit to Korea to attend the annual meeting of the African Development Bank held in Busan, in Seoul on May 25. They discussed ways for Korea and the world financial institution to boost cooperation.

President Moon said that the Korean government is willing to contribute to the economic development of African economies in a more active manner. He said, “Korea can share its experiences of investing in people, which President Kim emphasized.”

Moon also said that Korea supports the World Bank president’s long-term vision to expand the role of the institution.

“All African economies are hoping to follow in the footsteps of Korea’s economic development,” said Kim. “I told the African ministers that they have to invest in people, just like Korea did.”
