Civil servants, companies and universities from nations eyeing the adoption of the Korean-style address system can receive relevant training to boost capacity anytime and anywhere.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety on June 6 announced its launch of the K-Address System Online Educational Platform for Asian and African countries wishing to adopt the system.

The ministry plans to develop the platform to offer online training in relevant laws and systems, and practices in assigning and managing addresses.

The project’s first phase is slated for completion in December, with improvements to be made through a trial run.

First the ministry will develop a pilot program reflecting the human resources status and requirements after the model of Ethiopia, a country that signed in November last year a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the project.

Accordingly, the ministry on June 5 held an inception ceremony for the project with the Ethiopian land registration office at the Korean Association of Property Appraisers in Seoul’s Seocho-gu District. Both sides also discussed the venture’s direction.

The project will eventually be expanded to cover countries that signed a related MOU with Korea such as Tanzania and Mongolia or those showing interest in the Korean address system.
