Classrooms incorporating Korea’s cutting-edge technology and education experience have been established in Paraguay The Korean Ministry of Education on April 20 said an online demonstration class on using information and communications technology (ICT) will be held at the public school Centro Educativo Campo Verde in the Paraguayan capital of Asuncion.Since 2011, the ministry has worked with metropolitan and provincial offices of education and the Institute of APEC Collaborative Education to build classrooms using Korea’s digital education experience and technology in developing countries. The project seeks to provide support for teacher training and equipment for five years and assist the building of pilot classrooms using advanced ICT.Twenty-seven classrooms have been set up in 20 countries including Indonesia and Vietnam.The classrooms opened that day were planned and designed under the theme “Hyperconnectivity and convergence” by education experts and teachers from Korea and Paraguay. The classrooms were created to host classes focusing on student participation that combine traditional Korean culture such as daecheongmaru (main floor) and madang (garden) and architectural styles, and laptop PCs and artificial intelligence cameras were also provided. This program will have classes on a range of subjects and geared toward creativity development and exploratory activities through ICT. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Yoo Eun-hae said at the opening ceremony for the classrooms, “I hope that this is an opportunity for further development of bilateral cooperation in education,” adding, “We ask for heightened interest so that these cutting-edge classrooms can be run continuously and effectively.”We ask for your interest so that the state-of-the-art classroom can be operated continuously and effectively.Paraguayan Minister of Education and Science Nicolas Zarate hailed the classrooms for “greatly helping” to improve digitalization of his nation’s education’s environment, adding, “We will actively utilize the cutting-edge classrooms as regional education institutions and educational facilities for prospective teachers in Paraguay.”eykim86@korea.kr
