A video clip about Dokdo Island produced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has surpassed 10 million views. It’s been four years since it was first released in December 2013.
According to the MOFA, the video clip was produced in 12 languages: Korean, English, Japanese, Arabic, Mandarin, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. The video’s YouTube views topped 10.8 million as of Aug. 9.
The Korean language version had the highest number of views, with 8,200,000. The English version came in second with 2,230,000 hits, followed by the Japanese version with 230,000 hits.
This 4-minute 56-second video clip contains proof of Korea’s territorial sovereignty over Dokdo Island based on objective historical facts, such as the geography section in the annals of King Sejong’s reign, and highlights the falsity of Japan’s territorial claim to the island.
The video clip can be viewed at the MOFA’s website (http://dokdo.mofa.go.kr/eng/) and subtitles are provided in 13 languages, including Dutch, Mongolian, Vietnamese and Thai.
