The PyeongChang Olympic Night, an event to promote next year’s Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, has been held in Canada and the U.S.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism hosted the event on April 3 and 5 in Toronto and in New York to publicize next year’s PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

During the dinners, the Korea Tourism Organization and the organizing committee of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games presented their overview of the planned event, the progress that has been made on preparations and how ticket sales will work in different countries.

Attendees were particularly interested in the major tourist attractions and in the group tours available in Pyeongchang, Gangneung and Jeongsun, the three host cities, all in Gangwon-do Province.

There were small booths where attendees could vicariously experience the Olympic Games. An official photo spot was set up with the two mascots, Soohorang the white tiger and Bandabi the Asiatic black bear, and a virtual reality device let people try some virtual ski jumping at the event, too.

“Many projects, such as overseas road shows, familiarization tours and presentations, are planned to promote the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and to develop relevant tourist activities,” said Executive Vice President Kang Ok Hee of the Korea Tourism Organization. “We’ll do our best to bring tourists from around the world to Korea to ensure the success of the PyeongChang Winter Games.“
