Events for foreign nationals will be held on May 20 in Seoul to mark the 15th annual Together Day.

Itaewon Global Village Center (May 19) and Ichon Global Village Center (May 25) will also run programs that allow foreign participants to explore historical places in Korea like palaces and museums to raise their understanding of Korean culture.

Guro-gu District on May 20 will hold its fourth annual online intercultural festival to mark the event. Its YouTube channel will show videos of the online ceremony of Together Day, related performances and civilian contests. Dongdaemun-gu District on May 21 will hold its 14th annual global cultural festival both on- and offline at Dongdaemun-gu Family Center.

The Itaewon center from May 24-28 will hold a Korean historical tour to mark Together Day, and the Gangbuk-gu Family Center will hold the program “Our Family’s Tour Around the World” (unofficial title).

The Seoul Metropolitan Government on May 20 will host a ceremony at its main conference room on the third floor to award certificates of merit to those who supported foreign residents of the city.

Designated in 2007, Together Day is a legal commemorative day to create a social atmosphere in which domestic and foreign residents live together and respect each other’s cultures and traditions. The week of May 20 will also be “Together Week.”

The estimated 440,000 foreign residents of Seoul comprise 4.6% of the city’s population, close to the standard of a multiracial and multicultural society as defined by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
