Diplomats and businessmen from 68 nations and seven international organizations headed to Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do Province on Nov. 25 to visit the venues of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, exactly 76 days ahead of the opening ceremony. Among the 200 authorities were the Omani Ambassador to Korea Mohamed Salim Alharthy, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul Marc Knapper and Japanese Ambassador to Korea Yasumasa Nakamine.

The group travelled from Seoul to Gangneung, Gangwon-do Province, on the KTX high-speed train. Their first destination in Gangwon-do was the Olympic Park. There, they were briefed about the venues in the city before moving to Pyeongchang to visit the Olympic Stadium, where the opening and closing ceremony will be held.

“We wish to deliver the vibe of the host cities to the world,” said Natsuo Yamaguchi, the head of the Japanese political party Komeito after the tour to the Olympic venues.

“As a representative of the ambassadors to Korea, I wish for the success of a peaceful PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games that contributes to the peace of the Korean Peninsula and the whole world,” said the Omani Ambassador.
