Sports ministers from 14 countries, including France, Poland, Georgia and Kazakhstan, came together in Seoul to talk about sport policies as the PyeonChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games continue in Gangwon-do Province.

The theme of the meetings, held at the Hotel Lotte in downtown Seoul, was the “:social spread of sports values.” Minister Do Jongwhan talked about anti-doping, exterminating match-fixing and corruption, and shared some sport policies that have been adopted by the Korean government.

Memorandums of understanding on sport exchanges were signed between Korea and France and between Korea and Georgia.

France, the host country of the 2024 Olympics, will use the MOU with Korea as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation on the Olympics, while exchanging know-how and discussing ways to spread the Olympic legacy.

Minister Do stressed that, “Sports, both in individual and group competitions, are based on values such as fairness, cooperation and teamwork. They not only contribute to the development of sports and to the establishment of sport policies around the world, but also lead to progress and to an overall improvement in society as a whole.”
