The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) announced on June 7 that a total of 280,000 tickets will go on sale, including tickets for both the opening and closing ceremonies and for each Paralympic event. Tickets for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games are priced on average at KRW 140,000 each.

The PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games are composed of five snow sports — para alpine, para ice hockey, para cross-country skiing, para snowboard and para biathlon — and two ice sports — wheel chair curling and para ice hockey. For the first time, para snowboard is becoming an official discipline at these upcoming Paralympics.

The Paralympic Games are symbolic sporting events that represent the Olympic spirit, which has overcome race, region, disability, obstacles and borders, all for the goal of greater harmony.

People around the world are touched as they watch athletes with disabilities overcome and challenge their limitations, yet another touching point that makes the Paralympics different from the Olympics.

The PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games will be held on the largest scale ever, with 25,000 people, including some 1,500 athletes from 50 countries, participating in them. About 100 Korean athletes will join the largest ever Team Korea to take part in a Paralympic Games.

The opening ceremony will be held on March 9, 2018, at 9 p.m. at the PyeongChang Olympic Plaza.
