With South and North Korea agreeing on a bid to co-host the 2032 Summer Olympics, Seoul Metropolitan Government has estimated the cost to hold the event.
“To host 33 sports events for 15 days in Seoul and Pyeongyang between July and August 2032, South Korea will need to spend KRW 3.857 trillion,” the municipal government said on Dec. 18, adding, “If the co-hosting bid is successful, Seoul will try to use its existing sports facilities to host an economical Olympics.”

The city said it submitted a motion to the city council to agree on co-hosting the 2032 games with Pyeongyang, including a budget plan for the opening and closing ceremonies and stadium repairs. The leaders of the two Koreas announced the co-hosting bid in September after signing the Pyeongyang Joint Declaration.
