Ahead of the 2018 Inter-Korean Summit, South and North Korea held a joint rehearsal on April 25 at the Peace House in Panmunjeom, the summit venue.

Director Kwun Hyuk-ki of the Cheong Wa Dae Press Center said in a written briefing that, “The two sides held a joint rehearsal at Panmunjeom from this morning until 2:20 p.m. today.”

The Korean delegation was headed by senior director Kim Sang-gyun of the National Intelligence Service (NIS), while the Northern representatives were led by State Affairs Commission Secretariat Director Kim Chang-son, said Cheong Wa Dae.

“The two sides went over every minute detail together so that they can successfully hold the upcoming summit. The rehearsal went smoothly, as each of the two actively responded to each other,” said Kwun.

The joint rehearsal was conducted by checking on-site inspections following the exact same schedule as the actual summit. The two sides checked everything about the meeting, including the routes taken and events planned for the two leaders, the summit timetable, and various facilities inside the summit venue.

Rehearsal participants took the most of care in checking the broadcasting system. Director Kwun said, “In order to better air this first historic meeting between the two leaders to the world, we took a lot of care in checking the angle and illumination intensity of the cameras and other related matters concerning the broadcasting system.”
