April has been officially designated as the “Month for Science” by the Korean government, and through the spring month there will be a range of events all across the nation to mark the wonders of science.

The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning will host the 2017 Family Science Festival on April 22 and 23 in and around the Yeouido Hangang Park. Under the theme of “April looks at science,” the festival will feature lectures about science and scientific experiments, and feather other shows like magic tricks and musical concerts, all designed to help the public get a better understanding of science and the scientific method.

Prior to the festival, five national science museums will welcome visitors with free admission on April 21, the official “Day of Science,” and on April 22, the “Day of Information and Communications.”

The five National Science Museums are in Daejeon, Gwacheon in Gyeonggi-do Province, Daegu, Gwangju, and, lastly, in Busan.

The museum in Daejeon will have its “Spring’s Science Day” on April 15 and 16, a festival that offers visitors the chance to learn about the science of our human bodies and about food. There will also be hands-on exhibits and a concert on the sidelines.

At the Gwacheon museum, visitors will have the chance to observe four planets, including Jupiter, from April 18 to 23.

The Gwangju museum will host its Spring Science Festival, focusing on natural ecology, with plants and insects on display from April 18 to May 21.
