A roundup of four video clips was unveiled on July 24 to mark exactly 200 days until next February’s PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Released on Korea.net’s official YouTube and Facebook channels, the videos show four major Winter Olympic events — ski jumping, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and speed skating — coming to life in the middle of summer through magic tricks and illusions.

The magical winter sports in the middle of summer were all part of a project by the Korean Culture and Information Service, part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to promote next year’s Winter Olympics. The illusions were filmed last month in downtown Seoul, surprising the unsuspecting citizens and tourists going about their day.

The videos all star illusionist Yu Ho-jin, the first Asian to win the Grand Prix at the World Championships of Magic (FISM). The collection of four Winter Olympic sports makes up the first video, and three more videos, as well as a special episode that shows how the illusions took place, will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

You can watch the videos at the Gateway to Korea YouTube channel.

The official Korea Clickers Facebook profile will also run a special quiz contest from July 24 to Aug. 4.

A contestant can enter the competition by posting a Facebook comment with a photo of yourself mimicking some of the moves seen in any of the four videos. Upload to your own Facebook profile a selfie with a written message of support for the PyeongChang Winter Games. And, lastly, answer the quiz questions correctly.

The winner will be awarded a round-trip flight to Korea.
Runner-up prizes, Bluetooth earphones, will be given to 15 competitors, and 30 other participants who come in third place will receive a set of PyeongChang Winter Olympic souvenirs.

Another Facebook contest invites you to share a public post of any of the released video clips, tag your friends and leave a comment in the comments section of the post. A select group of 30 people will receive a set of PyeongChang Winter Olympic souvenirs.
