The National Museum of Korea is hosting a themed exhibition that introduces the lifestyle and thoughts of ancient China by showing their household items and craftworks. Craftworks and Daily Life in Ancient China will run from Nov. 22 to March 12, 2017.
The exhibition is designed to help people learn more about the myths, lifestyle, customs and ceremonial events of Chinese people in the past, and to shed new light on the society and culture of ancient China by showing their household items and craftworks, such as bronzeware, weapons, musical instruments, clothes and makeup tools, all of which were used as early as the Shang Dynasty (1600 B.C.-1046 B.C.) and through to the Tang Dynasty (618-907).
Portrait-inscribed stones and portrait-carved bricks show people’s thoughts about myths and ceremonial rituals in ancient times.
Buddhist stone monuments and pottery figurines also help people learn about ceremonial rituals and musical performances from ancient China.
Other interesting items on display include a bronze pot used for roasting meat, a bronze plate decorated with lions and flowers, and some lacquerware facial makeup boxes, which show the lives of women in ancient times.
Each of the items on display is introduced with related drawings, paintings, rubbed painting of stone inscriptions, or other visual materials to help visitors better understand the lifestyle of ancient East Asians.
